Squeeling clutch

When I pull off quickly or on a steep hill with lots of weight in the car the clutch makes a squeeling noise at a certain point, happens in 2nd and

1st (i think) and also when slipping the clutch to keep the car stationary on a hill at a certain point it will start to make a similar noise - only a bit lower. Can't really desribe the noise...

Any ideas

Ford Ka, V reg btw, 51k miles

Thanks in advance

Ben

You should not be doing this - it will wear your clutch out very quickly. Use your brakes.

The suealing is probably because your clutch is partly glazed, due to your activity above.

I dont do it for prolonged periods. But often at junctions on hills its easier to keep stationary using the clutch than jumping on the brakes, then having to use handbrake and hill start. It does it anyway on a steep hill start anyway....

How much are new clutches - and labour to fit, dont fancy doing it meself.

Any other way to fix it apart from new clutch?

It's your clutch, do what you want. But you asked.

Dunno, don't drive Fords.

Unless the fault is with the cable auto adjuster, no.

My God! Really? Ford had enough sense to use a hydraulic clutch in the Ka?

Probably just the throw out bearing. The fingers on the clutch diaphram slide when engaging the throwout bearing if the bearing is running stiff. If you aren't having any other problems such as slipping under load it can wait to be fixed.

You mean there's no longer any need to squeeze under the footwell to change the clutch adjuster ratchet? That's taken the fun out of it!
