Strange satnavs

I have a Peugeot with an RT6 radio/satnav. It has a most peculiar problem in that it will warn when driving towards speed cameras on the right hand side of the road but is silent when driving towards it on the same side as the camera. Yes it is the one I hacked last week to enable postcodes to be entered but I can't for the life of me see how this would cause it. Looking around various forums I have found a couple of other people with the RT6 having the same problem. I thought speed cameras were located by coordinates. Any ideas?

Just use a TomTom anyway.

My 2005 Lexus RX300 has factory-fitted satnav but first it's only DVD-based so can't add anything else in (like POIs, speedcams etc) and secondly, the newest DVD available for it is 2011, so well out of date too. The touchscreen display also gives access to controls for climate, phone and lots of other stuff so I wouldn't dream of removing it, but I use the satnav map display as a sort of 'rolling screensaver' and have a TomTom attached to the screen for real navigation.

I went out all afternoon and it behaved as it should, only alerting to cameras on the left side of the road and showing correct speed limit as well so f*ck knows what is going on.

I have an idea that I might have changed the map late one night when I was in the thick of getting pissed off with it.
