Not really. Just don't go there again. Don't tell anyone what garage it is though - they might read it and try and do you for libel, or worse yet, come round your house...

If this incident was a genuine mistake - and it would appear to be so as they admitted that "it was 'miles out'" and rectified the error - then you can draw your own conclusions as to the outcome if they sued for libel.

BTW, in my near sixty years, I have yet to meet anyone who has never dropped the proverbial 'b***ock' - but I have met many individuals and dealt with many businesses who have - and tried to 'weasel' out of their obligations to correct them - so at least give *Autocentre, Queens Hill, Newport* a pat on the back for doing so.

As a matter of interest, I only live around 12 miles from 'em, so I may wander down and have a chat with the manger ;->

I was on the wind up after someone genuinely got quite irate at me for saying a garage wasn't particularly good, and came out with that sort of bunkum.

That could well have been me in a post dated the 29th June saying:

"Doki,

If the accusations that you are publicly making are untrue, you want to hope that the garage owners you are 'knocking' are not reading these posts (or someone point them out to them), as they may well take a little umbrage at the libel that you have written - and go knocking on Zen's door for your name and current address for some 'compo'. "

The statement is still very true for anyone committing libel/defamation very publicly on an open forum and I believe that Godfrey v Demon Internet Ltd [2001] QB 201 was the forerunner.

Oops! It should have read "so at least give *Autocentre, Queens Hill, Newport* a pat on the back for *NOT* doing so". That'll teach me to proof read *before* posting. :-(
