In the old days, before the new computerised MOT system was introduced you could get a 13 month MOT certificate, providing of course your vehicle passed and you still had one month MOT left before it expired. Does this option still apply?

Yes you can still get 13 months of MOT. On the next MOT you don't have to give the tester your old certificate, as it will be on the computer.
