turbocharger return pipe

Hi

I've recently replaced the oil return pipe fromt the turbocharger as it had a large hole in it. I couldn't find the correct diameter pipe on the day so settled for one that has smaller diameter- a clear, strong one that you see used for fuel- just managed to squeze it in place. What baffles me is that I cannot see any oil going through this return line now and the pipe is still clear!! The engine has sounded a bit rough since I bought it several weeks ago, do you think this could be the answer- no oil getting to turbocharger?? I cannot think what would cause that and would expect it to seize v.quickly.

Any replies much appreciated.

Try disconnecting the oil feed to the turbo, putting a container beneath it, and cranking the engine on the starter (you don't say what car it is, but do whatever you need to on that sort of car to prevent it actually starting. Remove HT lead, CAS sensor etc).

Assuming you noticed the hole in the old one because oil was coming out of it, then the situation is worse now than it was before. The hole into the block is probably bunged up. The turbo was getting oil before, but only because of the leak. Now it's not getting any. To confirm, try disconnecting the new pipe and see if oil comes out of the turbo when you run the engine.

Thanks guys

It's a Corsa 1.5 td, think the pipe split because of the heat from the fan (it was strapped to the fan housing) which was in constant use 'cause the previous owner blocked the radiator. I'll try removing the pipe!

Cheers
