V5C

New style V5C just popped trough the letterbox today. I'm a bit peeved that it lists two former keepers before I bought the car in 1997. How?

Date of first registration: 17/8 1993

------------------------------------------------------------------------->

2 The Previous Registered Keeper
[Z.1] (The previous owner)
[Z.2] ACQUIRED VEHICLE ON 18/8 1993 [Z] No. OF FORMER KEEPERS 2

-------------------------------------------------------------------------<

Why 2 former keepers? Do they count the dealer who possibly registered the car?

Yep. Could of been one of those registered to be sold as a "bargain delivery mileage only" special.

But in that case shouldn't the dealer be listed as former keeper? But only the previous owner was listed on the form.

My car/V5 is like that, it was a demonstrator i beleive.

It looks to me that the previous owner went to the dealer, ordered the car. Dealer then registered the car and delivered next day. It shouldn't count as two former keepers.

No not really since the car is too hold to affects its value. I just thought that V5C should be more accurate. It really looks like a programming error of some sort; setting the initial count to 1 instead of 0.
