Anyone tell me what to expect from my 1999 2.4auto v70 (Petrol)..round town / long trips etc? Would 38 mpg long trip 30 local be too optimistic?

Tks

Yes, knock about 4-5mpg off those figures and you will be somewhere near.

Dunno, but my 740 2.0 Auto did 26 long trip, 21 local.

Very much so. 32-34 long trip, 24 local imho.

My old Renault Safrane 2.5 Auto (same engine, near enough) used to average about 21 in town (driven gently), and anything upto 36 mpg on a long run.

What makes it so s*it? Heavy 'astard?

Heavy, and not brilliant aerodynamics, probably highish rolling resistance too..

Tim..

Sounds like a reason for divorce has presented itself Tim ;)

Quite heavy. It's a Volvo so it's boxy. Automatic gearbox. They're reasonably fast for what they are so they get driven spiritedly. Well I did anyway.
