Hi a friend of mine has a Bora 2.0 petrol saloon which is 3 years old next month, he was driving and it would not come out of gear when he pressed the clutch, the a breakdown service came out and said "it sounds like the clutch has gone" they then towed the car to his home. Vw dealer tell him it will cost £300 to strip it down and find the problem, if its wear and tear he will have to pay £300 plus the repair, if its a mechanical fault it will be done free under the 3 yr warranty. Is there anything we can check ourselves?
the clutch pedal is still firm, when the engine is not funning any gear can be selected, when it is running no gear can be selected, its as if the clutch is not pressed. Regards Andrew
