VW Mk 4 - 1.6lt injected. 190,000km. Very little maintenance ever done except for an oil and filter. Girl owner.
This is an interesting one.
The engine runs rough the plugs are all over the place but seem to be running lean in the most part, lacks power. Water temperature about normal on the gauge but does climb when at idle.
What (or how) does one diagnose this, any thoughts or do you need more information Ill try and answer.
fuel pressure is my first thought, IIRC they have a filter inside the pump which is inside the tank, they get blocked and very little fuel can get through. Most places just replace the whole pump, but they are not actualy hard to dismantle and clean.
On a prolonged climb it does not misfire. But Ill check the filter.
