I've never had any 'fancy' cars, always been just transport as such (and why with built the Ranger rather than a '7' clone etc) but I do think wheels (and tyres to a degree) play a big part in the look of a vehicle.

Personally I wouldn't know an expensive set of alloys from a Halfords set, nor if what a vehicle was sporting were stock or special but as you say, the right size (and if an off roader the right tread pattern) can make all the difference.

Having said that, if a vehicle isn't 'common' (as with the Ranger) unless you had a pair side_by_side you probably wouldn't realise how much smaller the 'small' wheels were.

Re my hunt for 'M&S' tyres (and of the full profile). Because this isn't a fast vehicle and not particularly 'different' looking (most folk would probably assume it was a production Jeep of some sort) one of the few things it's got going for it (apart from no chassis / body rot and simple to maintain ) is that you can be a bit more adventurous with it re tracks and trails than you might with a std saloon car.

That and because it has no carpets it can be washed out with a hose pipe (not a bad thing with 3 dogs and a daughter with a Yamaha PW50 caked in mud)!

I am a fitting centre for My Tyre! Enduro and Fullrun are also in stock but there is nothing 4x4 ( I am also part of 4-site) available in that size.

Soo, I find that I'm supposed to have a very local dealer for Marangoni tyres (although the last time I approached a supposed dealer for a particular brand they denied any knowledge of it!) and as it happens a mate is good friends with the boss! ;-)

He's gonna let me know tomorrow if they do a 185/80/14 Grip E .

If not it might have to be the Wanli S1010's (even if they don't work well they are better than what's on there, are cheap and are at least M&S pattern) and failing that, anything else!

Well if you are cheaper for the same thing Fred .... (I'd probably want supply only as I'm not going to do anything (including stripping the existing wheels) till I have the replacement tyres in my hands)! ;-)

So, local Marangoni supplier says he can't get the size I need and I just got a reply from another big online supplier (that maybe their main distributor anyway) saying:
