What could cause power steering rack to wear prematurely?

Say a boy racers car needed the power steering rack replaced prematurely, what kind of driving/modification could of caused this?

Wide tyres; Twitching right to turn left and vice versa; Fiddling with the wheel whilst outside the chippy........

I can't think of any way a p/steering rack could be abused enough to cause accelerated wear. At least, not in normal road use. Rough tracks or cross country, maybe. Where the wheels are going every which way. Mike.

Kinda the way boy racers drive down the road then... wobbeling from side to side as they go over any little bump due to the suspension resting on the bump stops..

sorry, due to a lax power poncy lowering kit fitted (cheap pig iron coil springs with a few coils hacked off to make the car lower.. but so low it buggers up the steering geometry.. could account for wear on the rack if the track rods are bent at an angle the manufacturer never ment them to be at for any length of time)
