What is the extre benefit of 'metallic paint' on a car other than a shiny sexy look?

Thanks a lot.

When you have metallic paint on your car, your penis is actually 2" longer.

Nick decided it would be mildly amusing to write:

ACE. I'm going to go buy some more cars so I can have GIANT ROBOT C*CK.

The message from Nick contains these words:

And it reflects the light from the blue washer LEDs so much better.

The message from rich a contains these words:

Oddly I happen to have an email here which might interest you.

The body shop get to charge you more, and you can justify swearing more whenever you scratch it.

Metallic colours are more popular among used car buyers, so while you may not get any extra when selling it, you may find it easier to find a buyer. Usually the darker the shade the better.

I struggle to find a plain colour - usually unsucessfully.

My favourite is white, although I've not had a white car for ages. Perhaps now the jam sandwiches are silver that will become the unpopular colour and white will come back into fashion?

Apart from the ubiquitous silver, which is the new white, apparently.

White only suits small-medium cars(*), and as every design is getting bigger, that alone might explain its lack of popularity.

(*) Someone near me owns a white Frontera. Bleurgh.

I dunno - it depends on the age and design of the car, not the size. I reckon my white Triumph 2.5pi looks "in period" and quite classy. White also hides the ripples in my repaired paintwork ;-) I think, the more modern the car the less it suits white - perhaps something to do with moulded plastic adornments rather than chrome. Your next comment is an excellent of this...

Which looks like a bloody ambulance, or UN wagon in Bosnia.

You may be right. I bet when you park your Triumph next to any modern "family" car, it looks small though, doesn't it ? Good points about the lack of chrome - lots of black or otherwise coloured plastic trim really jars next to white.

My own pet theory is that a well-designed body shape looks good in any colour(*), although the jury's still out on large white cars - something that appears smart in one popular colour and horrible in another has a fundamental flaw, I think. Either that, or the manufacturers simply shouldn't offer some combinations - "I'm sorry sir you can't have your new

5-series in fushcia pink, we tried it and the sales manager was violently sick and threatened to quit..."

(*) Doesn't just apply to cars, come to think of it.

Also available in some equally horrible solid shades of yellow, red, green and mid-blue, iirc.

John Laird ( snipped-for-privacy@laird-towers.org.uk) gurgled happily, sounding much like they were saying :

When the C-class first came out, I saw several in a watery yellow with red- wine cloth interior. Eww.

I still want to order a TT in white with a yellow roof, though. Or maybe pink with a darker pink roof.

The message from Adrian contains these words:

D'yer remember the Marina? The white ones came with a brown interior that made 'em look like a soiled nappy.

Well, at least it looked better than it drove.

I want Yellow. Yellow's great!

yuck

the only plain white Fronteras i've seen are WYMAS 'company cars' used by some of their operational supervisors

More of a grey really. Can you get a luster finish that looks like polished metal?

Ah, what you want's a deLorean. If you find one I bet it won't have a working flux capacitor.
