changing speedometer cable

Does anyone know where i can find some instructions on how to change out a speedometer cable in a 94 miata?

Thanks, Levi

It's not real hard. Drop the steering column with the two nuts on each side. pull the meter hood off...(I know that fancy term because I had to buy a new on because someone took it off without dropping the steering column and broke it) Unscrew the instrument cluster...it just hooks into the back of it....go inside the engine bay...pull the rubber grommet out with the speedo cable in it. there is a support for it behind the head and in the tranny tunnel. I think a 7/8 wrench or a 23mm will take the other end of the speedo cable off...remove it...insert the new cable in the transmission...be sure to line up the notch in the socket with the "tooth" on the end of the cable...screw that back in. BE SURE TO REATTACH THE CABLE TO THE SUPPORTS...it will melt (personal experiance). feed the cable back through the fire wall and push the grommet in ...reattach the inst. cluster to the cable and reassemble dash.

[snip...]

Does the hood just pull off or are there clips that one must be careful in disengaging? Inquiring minds need to know... (my speedometer died right as it rolled over 143K miles but had been squeaking at lower speeds in the 1000 miles prior to its demise)
