Many questions <New Owner>

I just picked up a '94 B&T at an auction this weekend. I've never owned an import before, so I'm a little out of my element. (I'm a Chevy 350 girl... 2 Trans Ams and a Tahoe.) The miata's for the 30 miles each way to work. I have a few questions...

1.) It has some nice 16" rims on it but they're wrapped in 205/55/16s. They hit the fenders if they hit a bump while turning. What can I put on the 16s that will work right? The rims are MB motoring 5 stars. (Anyone have a contact for MB? I need a center cap too.)

2.) This car's got 113K on it, is there anything I should look out for? It had bosch +2s and Borg Warner wires on it, I'm hoping the previous owner took care of the engine at least.

3.) Where can I find the paint/dye to match the interior plastic? (don't say pep boys, they don't have it.) I live in the middle of nowhere, Texas and I'll need someone online to order it from.

4.) Other than Ebay and miata.net, any good used parts sites/bulletin boards/info places? The interior is trashed on this car. Having said that, is there anyone out there that could send me pictures of what a B&Ts interior is supposed to look like and how all the carpet fits together on that deck under the top? There are 2 pieces of carpet with holes and some cardboard, I'm thinkin' plastic snaps in those holes?

I really appreciate any info ya'll can help me out with. I think it's a pretty neat little car and I plan on fixing it up. We have convertible weather 364 days a year down here and I can't wait to get it tagged and inspected. I plan on cross posting this on miata.net as well.

Thanks again. Tank.

Wow. What was your reason for buying the Miata? Fuel economy?

The 16" wheels on my '02 SE are shod with 205/45-16s from the factory and I've had no problem with fender-bumping at all. You also want to scour the articles and forums at

Did I mention scouring

? Ah - you probablyalready know about miata.net, but...

I'm a newbie to

formatting link
but they seem tobe the cat's meow for most service parts. However, I did not seeinterior plastic touch-up materials in their online catalog.I suggest an email to their parts dept and describe what you haveand what you're looking for. Dana

If the previous owner did not do the 60,000 mi timing belt change, it may be in a poor shape.

Look around the site. Especially FAQ and Garage.

Thanks guys.

I bought the Miata partly for gas mileage and partly because I used to have 2 MG midgets. Kinda brings me back. I just hope the Miata needs less maintenance...

I did check out the search feature of Miata.net and it answered most of my questions. Thanks for the websites, I hadn't found those yet.

The car was a drug seizure. That's why the interior is trashed.

When I get the money I plan on getting the 120,000 mile service @ my Mazda dealer. (that'll do the timing belt)

Thanks again for your help. I hope to be on the road soon!
