Top Down ride in Maine

WOW!!! Put Lil' Blue in the garage and cancelled the insurance on 4 November. Did all the winter thingy's I've read about here. Been driving my 4Runner (no comment!) since that time but look and drool every time I pass by the Miata going in and out of the house. Sunday (28 Dec) was a nice day here with bright sunshine and temps in the low 50's. Got to thinking how nice it would have been to take Lil" Blue out for a ride. Still lots of snow around but no ice or wet roads. Not much I could do on a Sunday (no insurance) but I checked the forecast for Monday (29 Dec) and it called for better temps. Come Monday morning I had errands to do and when I got home around noon it was simply beautiful outside. Got on the phone and called insurance company. Methinks I was hyperventilating at the time. Took the excess air out of the tires, removed all the mothballs from their various places, checked fluids and fired her up. Left her outside (in the sun) with the heater going full blast for a few minutes and then put the top down. Only a Miata lover could know what my emotions were at this time. It had only been slightly less than two months but I couldn't wait to get behind the wheel again. (The girl at the insurance company kinda chuckled when I told her I only wanted coverage for one day but I think she felt my joy) Anyway, I had a fantastic four hours running around town and going on and off the interstate (just for the ramps). All in all it was a great day and I hope the weather co-operates a few more times before this winter (and mud season) finally ends.

Sorry for rambling but I think ya'll understand.

Oh I understand exactly. I only had to work a half day yesterday, and when I drove home (in my winter car) I put the windows down because it was so warm . The thermometer said 50 degrees when I got home, and I just had to take the roadster out for a little top-down spin. Got a few odd looks, but I had one lady tell me how much she missed running around in the cold with the top down and the heater on full blast. The roads are all dry and clean up here, even though we've had three feet of snow since thanksgiving, we've also had a lot of rain, so the net effect is mostly a dry, barren landscape. Felt good to get out and drive, even if it was only for a little while.
