Antenna Mast Installation -- W140

Feb 04, 2004 1 Replies

Hello All...

I have been needing to change the antenna mast on my 98 S320 for quite some time and I finally got around to purchasing the mast but am having some trouble installing it. Could someone please provide me with some help in getting this done. I thought it would be a painless process, however when I uncovered the carpeting on the inside of the trunk, it looked pretty complicated. Is there a website that has step by step directions or has someone done this??

I appreciate the help!!!

I've replaced the entire assembly in my SL500 (motor was gone, and an entire new Hirschmann OEM unit was only about $150 online), but recall hearing you could simply turn on the radio (or CD etc) to raise the antenna. Once it was fully extended you simply pull it out... a white nylon-like whip will follow (looks like weed-whacker stuff! :o) which has cogs on one face. Pay note of which position the cogged surface faces (front, IIRC) and feed it back in until the mast is in place, then turn of the radio and it will pull it back down inside to the home position.

*** That MIGHT be wrong, so proceed at your own peril *** (oops!)
