It stays there pretty much until you wash it off. If you are not seeing the leak, it may be at location like expansion valve... which is way out of the way and sort of hidden if not completely hidden.

How long is leak detector dye visable using uv light and glasses? I added a 5ozcan of dye and 134 ,a month ago.Air conditioner is loosing effectiveness again.
