doing my own MB C280 brakes

Sep 03, 2003 2 Replies

I need to replace the front brake pads in my MB C280. I have done several american type cars (non-ABS), but have not dug in and tried one with ABS. I would like to know if my car will ever be the same if I attempt this. or should I just bit the bullet and pay the local car-jock $400. The cost of the pads are $47.

Doing ABS pads is no different. Main thing you will notice is that the MB has a wear sensor clipped into one pad. This likely has to be replaced if the light has come on and the sensor contact has rubbed thin against the rotor (it simply plugs in).

Be sure to have your rotors turned. (MB recommends replacing the caliper mounting bolts).

Its a doddle, if you have done other cars you will be fine. No specialist knowledge or anything required, straightforward job.

Enjoy spending the $353 you just saved.
