will putting an orange fram filter in my 190e do any harm?

No... no harm at all... it is acceptable.
There's no way in hell I'd use a Fram filter on any of my cars. Get the proper Mann or Hengst filters.
Wix is ok in a pinch. Fram is not IMO.
