how hard is it to adjust the accelerator linkages,

there's 3/4 of the pedal travel in free play, do I have to adjust anything else at the same time?

thanks in advance.

If 75% of the pedal's travel is free play then there's clearly something wrong with the linkage or the motor mounts have broken and the engine has shifted.

Easy one. There are plastic balls supporting the throttle rod at the firewall and engine. Replace them (couple bucks, twenty minutes).
