The part number is 126 997 01 81, a rubber "cover" from 1985 500SEL. It "falls off" from my car to the garage floor (OK, I admit I am very embarrassed).

its probobly the pads the mechanics use to put the car up on the lift. located behind front wheels and foreward of back wheels.
