I get this hard knock noise from suspension/transmission after driving about
5/6 miles, it's more pronounced over small bumps or ripples in the road. Can anyone advise me is my car knackered?

While brevity may be the soul of wit, it sucks when trying to diagnose an automotive symptom. In other words, your car is either totally f**ked up, there may be a gorilla in the trunk trying to get out, or something in between.
What kind of car is it you're referring to?
Sounds like a loose rear shock mount or an upper strut bearing in front is worn out. However, could be as simple as a looseroad wheel. Need to put it up on a lift and start checking things out.
