Turning Airbags off ?

Apr 26, 2004 4 Replies

know this has probably been asked hundreds of times, but is there any way to turn off the air bags in the front without buying a MB baby seat ?

Not sure about current cars, but once the proper paperwork has been filed with the US DOT, a dealer or authorized service tech, is authorized to install a "bypass switch" to turn off the front airbag(s). The installation is recorded as part of the car's history so that subsequent owners/sellers have that as part of the vehicle disclosure.

i realize this is a mercedes but with new fords theres a key and lock thats specifically desigened within the cars to do this

No, not every Ford vehicle has the air bag switch. It is for most trucks with two seats with no alternative places to place the baby seat or young children.
