I do not know but ..... It looks like a spam was sent from an MIT machine with a return address of this newsgroup. It looks like it was just that one spam so it might not be a long term problem. Assuming it was not forged of course.
.the attachment to many of the posts you mention contains a virus. which obviously should not be downloaded or opened
