MGF steering problems

Hi...

Over the last week I have noticed that the steering on my 1996 Mgf has become heavy, especially when going around corners...

Anyone got any ideas ..

Cheers Timmo

Well you would'nt notice it if you did'nt insist in going round corners! would you?

Any chance you have curbed a front wheel recently. The MGF is only a glorified Metro and to my mind the steering geometry is a bit on the fragile side.

If you have, then I would strongly advise that you get the geometry checked by a 4x4 expert, they have the equipment to check both front & rear geometry in relation to each other and give you long term trouble free motoring, and dramatically reduce tyre wear.

Both front and rear sub frames are, as you probably know taken from the Metro parts bin (that accounts for the abysmal steering lock) so each end can do its own thing, at worst give you crab wise motoring. Hope this helps Cheers P '67MGB '98MGF

Is the electric power assist motor working?

If not have you checked the fuse?
