Took my wife's '04 mini S on a long drive Saturday for the first time. Decided to crack the sun roof for a little air rather than use the air conditioner. Forget it. It was so noisy it was almost impossible to hear the radio or carry on a conversation. Anyone else have this problem and is there a possible solution?

My 03 mini is very noisy as well with the sunroof open. I only open it in city driving. I think it is stiff worthwhile because the glass roof makes the car seem roomier.

It's terrible isn't it ! If you fold the deflectors down whilst driving along, a lot of the noise is reduced, but then at certain speeds you get terrible buffeting noise in the car. I live with it and only open it when around town or cruising the country lanes at sub 50mph.

I generally leave mine closed on the highway... not because of noise (that doesn't bother me) but because when the roof is open it sits at an angle that causes it to get scratced from sand and pebbles thrown up from vehicles in front of me.
