Water ingress update

N/S/Floor area After striping out the carpet and sound deadening pads, the leak was traced to the front subframe tower bolt seal,

water running off the windscreen and bonnet, flooding the crossmember below the wiper motor and all round the tower bolt, It looked like the seal had worn due to movement over the years, the water then ran in to the crossmember, and out of the (left hand drive master cylinder hole) straight in to the sound deadening material and flooded the floor on the passenger side, Removed the bolt, sealed the rubber washer with silicone, tested the area with hosepipe, Viola !! sorted Fitzy

It might be worth fitting the later (Twin-Point/MPi) type bonnet seal, because that is thicker and also partially runs down the engine bay/inner wing seam too. That way there's less chance of water getting on to the bulkhead.
