How do you tell if you have a bent valve?

Minor bending, the engine runs very rough. Major bending, no compression. no start You can take the rocker cover off and look at the lifters. The inlet rockers should be tight against the cam and the lifter. If a rocker can wobble side to side or you see a gap under the cam and rocker, you have a bent valve.
