Engine off the battery terminal voltage should be about 12v, engine, about

14v.

If there's no voltage change, then the alternator current is not getting to the battery. Look at the big fusable links on the battery + terminal and in the junction box.

If it is charging, then there's a drain somewhere. Do you have an aftermarket stereo? These often get misconnected. Perhaps its not switching off. Start taking out accessory fuses until you don't get a current drain.

  1. How old is the battery??
  2. "a." If you totally disconnect the battery, after a full charge, does it still discharge? or "b." can you connected it back up the next day, and still start your car.

If the answer to 1, is 4 (maybe even three) or more years, suspect the battery If the answer to 2 "a" is yes, replace the battery If your answer to 2 "b" is no, replace the battery, If your answer to 2 "b " is yes, see Stewarts post.
