Alarm system malfunction (Stealth)

Hi, I have a problem with my car security system and I thought I'd see if you guys had any ideas.

I have a 1992 Dodge Stealth RT that I just brought into a mechanic for $1000 worth of work on it. They finished the work but then they couldn't start the car. This was due to the fact that the alarm system was activated even though the alarm light was not flashing. I've had the car for 3 years and I don't even know the name of the alarm system that's in it. The mechanic tried for 4 hours and couldn't disable it. He said it looks like an after market system. I tried to unlock it using both remotes that I have and it doesn't react. One of them has a brand new battery and the other one has a newer battery so I know it's not the remote's fault.

This happened to me once before, about a year ago, where the system enabled itself and the light wasn't flashing. I thought it was the starter at first but after a few hours I came back to my car and unlocked it using the keyless entry (which disables the alarm system) and then it started up fine.

I just want to disable the system but I have no idea how to do it. Today I'm going to make the trip there and try unhooking the battery and rehooking it up. Any ideas?

Thanks
