i own pajero 2.8td 1994 problems usualy when cold in mornings. revs die black smoke then it cuts out.starts again after turning over a few times then seems to be fine for the rest of the day, till next morning, sometimes oil light dont come on when first turn key, been serviced recently, could anyone give me any ideas what the problem could be and parts needed ..many thanks johnsy

Not familiar with your model, but the symptoms (hard cold start and lots of black smoke - running too rich) suggest you might have a flooded engine, possibly from a leaking injector. You might be able to see if this is the case by checking fuel line pressure in the AM after sitting all night. I'd also look at the obvious stuff as well: spark plugs, ignition wires, air filter, throttle body, and injectors.

Good luck.

thanks bob, spoke to someone at milner 4x4 specialize in imports and pointed out diaphram on top of fuel filter draws fuel back to tank overnight because split or damaged, thus when driving .25 miles + runs out of fuel then starts again ok for rest of day till following morning . I hope this helps other people with same common problem on pajero's
