sunroof slides upon acceleration

Jun 02, 2006 3 Replies

hi - On our 2001 Galant, the fabric sunroof shade slides back and forth as we stop & accelerate. The fabric is smooth & slippery along the metal rails, and it just slides open & closed as we stop & start -

Any suggestions as to what to put on the rails to create some permanent (but not damaging) friction...

Simple! Some white candle wax.

huh ? I use that to lub my patio door roller track - but hey - I'll try it -

True, candle wax is a lubricant / noise reducer when under pressure like a door slide. More importantly, its very non-slip, and two surfaces which are in light contact, provides a level of friction before sliding occurs.

Which is what you want.
