100 xeone look bulbs

Aug 15, 2005 2 Replies

Has anyone installed these high brightness bulbs in a E46, the bulbs have a blue coating. With them being 100w I was concerned about the wiring/switch/relays and also the lens of the headlight unit is plastic. I presume they must be ok, but would welcome peoples experiences longer term.

Thanks

Depending on vehicle there may or may not (ford and vauxhall i have personal experience of?) a relay. Some route lights directly through the light and dipswitch and the plastic next to the contacts melts. New switches are very expensive!

I ran em for years in a Pug 405 and a Rover 600, and never had any problems at all. Both headlight fronts were glass, but the continuous airflow always kept the lights cool to the touch. Obviously there might be some heat buildup if you're stationary for an excessive length of time...
