Ah, lovely spring weather

I've washed and polished the Passat and the 75 recently.

Unfortunately, the Passat instantly gets dirty the very next time I drive to work.

I really must fettle the bike this weekend in preparation for it's MOT. I'm ashamed at the lack of miles I put on it since the last one, and am determined to do something about it this year.

so far i've um changed the engine in the cavvy (twice) and added a long long long list of mods

new exhaust(straight thru stainless) set of koni adjustables gsi bumpers and skirts(yes a pain to fit to a hatch) some natty m3 gearknob :) nice new clarion headunit couple of new tyres and no i havent polished it and it still has the oily handprints on the front wings :)

Ah, strut balancers. Mate of mine had one on a car once. Didn't like it, so replaced with a lump of cheddar cheese. Thems were the days.

Well, due to the bsun being so bright and so low in the sky, I have had the sunroof open, and the Oakleys on. But today, mother of god, coming home, glad I didn't put them on. Was slighly overcast, with the brightness just showing through occasionally, then suddenly, the heavens opened. Motorway speeds, and in an instant you can't see the Armco or the white line between lanes, never mind the car infront or behind. And that was with the wipers at both ends on full. maybe it was good I couldn't, but quickly backing off the gas, I don't know how close I came to either tail ending someone, or being tail ended. yes I know you are supposed to leave loads of space, and I had loads of space when it opened (about 4 car lengths), but after the lights went out, I couldn't tell you if they had stopped dead, piled into someone, or moved into another lane, or even if there was another lane. I didn't want to brake hard, as I couldn't even see brake lights in front at all, in any of the three lanes.

Thats how I've been doing to enjoy spring.

Makes me glad I bought the 7 series, being able to wind it up on one of the twisty roads around here, stratified climate control keeping my head cooler than my body, 235 recently refreshed horses keeping me in front of dithering new 3 series drivers, (most don't realise that their 200bhp 3 series is the same WEIGHT as my old seven series) and a rather nice JVC MP3 DAB CD player with remote control and user loaded movie showing on its display (JVC - EXAD) providing some music to drown out the tyre noise of cars passing from the other direction. To much sun from the rear ... press button and the motorised blind drops. Right foot aching ... press cruise control button. Slight twinge in back ... press button beside seat. Fuel running low?? ... press 1000 + 10 together on the computer, then put into test mode 7 to display true tank quantity as a percentage.

Then get bored, and take 218bhp 1280kg low geared 5 series to the local drag strip for a laugh.

loving the sun, window down, car still shiny even after a bit of drizzle today. just reminds me why i bought a black MR2 turbo, looks f-ing great in the sun polished and shiny!!! sometimes wish i had the t-bar but glad overall i have a hard top version as i burn far to easy :)

Hmmm...took the car apart. Have a 94 rover 620gsi to keep in front of micras on the straights and scare myself silly in the corners

Both the MR2 and MX5 were cleaned and polished last weekend. The MR2 has a spangly Japanese clutch kit plus a couple of Toyo Proxes T1-S's waiting in the hall to go on (that's next weekends work), plus oil, filter and plugs ready for its first event. This weekend the MX5 is having a service done. Then I'm gonna clean the pool out and get it heated so we can use it before we move out in a couple of months :) Hopefully finishing the weekend off with a BBQ on monday

I've still not got round to doing the head on the Capri, embarrasingly enough, or finishing putting the V8 in the Land Rover, and to make matters worse, there's a 1969 MGB GT on my path which needs some fettling. I suspect it may join the fleet shortly. Too nice to leave to rot. Dark blue, black leather piped white, chrome wires etc.

The Merc is still behaving impeccably, as always. The only things to get tired over the winter were the wiper blade and the light in one of the rear electric window switches. I suspect the major waxing and fettling I gave it in November has saved it from the winters salty goodness.

The Kenwood MP3 CD player I've had for around 3 years is still fine and dandy and had its first lens cleaning session a week or so ago.

Oh, I'm off to Kent to look at a TVR Cerbera on Tuesday, I just hope it's not good enough to buy. There may be some serious fleet rationing if it is.

GRP Monocoque and removable hard top. Tis a fine thing indeed.

Just enjoying driving it really, roof on, roof off, on the road, on the track.

That's the one - 80 % of the driving experience of an Elise for 20% of the money. I'll tell you one thing, you won't be getting /this/ one for nowt when I've finished with it :-) Here's a monstrous image of it
