Speaking of puny engines, have you seen that ticky ickle one they've[1] built ? It's a working petrol engine about 10mm long, well cool :)

I was a passenger in an F350 on a recent trip to the states. It had a little step ladder to get into the cab, which was about the size of my house, and you could have parked my car on the flatbed, sideways. The tyres were actually hitting both set of cat's eyes at the same time on the freeway. It seemed quite happy cruising along at 100mph, but i dread to think what sort of mpg it managed :-)

Probably a good choice, but unless you can't avoid it don't ever, ever buy one new. The depreciation is huge on a Mondeo and a one year old one will be a much better buy than a new one.

Had one as a loaner a month ago. It put a smile on my face. Sure the inside is shit but the seat is fairly comfortable and it's a hoot to drive.

My old man's running around in a Fiesta TDCi at the moment - his comments are that the best part (by far) is the engine - and it's only the 1.4!!!

I was impressed enough to consider buying one as a runaround. The one I had actually had a better CD player installed than the one in my 4xFord. The only thing I don't like is the feeeling of being so low down while driving, OTOH the seat in the Jag is even lower and the dash higher and I can live with that.

But the overall package in the Fester is very good. The gearbox feels pleasant, the handling is sharp and the engine revs away like a demented thing. Looking at the specs it's really not that fast, but it feels like it is and it made me grin like a loon all the way from Wantage to Evesham. Definitely a car that encourages the driver to get off the motorway and use the "B" and unclassified roads just for the fun of taking lots and lots of corners.

I had one for a day. Interior is crap. No other word for it, sort of cheap plastic and cloth you expect on a French car. Thankfully the engine and handling make up for it big time. Would have had it a week had the heater not packed up (common apparently)

The F-350 is the full size, the F-250 is the mid size. I believe the F-350 has the 8.0 V8 Powerstroke, a weany V8 petrol, and something like a V10 8.0 litre petrol.

The Powerstroke'll do 30 mpg on the highway, too.

Just add a little turbocharger and a K & N, you'll be fine - one per wheel maybe.

My brother's currently looking at a new company car to get (£15k budget) and pointed out to me that the new facelifted Mondeo Ghia X has got *cooled* seats. Now, surely that's going to be expensive if anything goes wrong (I'm thinking coolant leaks etc.) but it's the sort of thing that will probably happen early on in the car's life and be sorted under warranty (one would hope). It's also features like that that would seriously make me consider buying a nearly new Mondeo TDCI-130 Ghia X for about £10k, rather than spending about £6k on a 7 year old A6. Got to say I'm tempted.

Was that the new focus-like shape, or the shape before? Not driven the latest shape, but my brother had one and seemed to like it - the shape before are nice though (a lot better looking IMHO), though the firm suspension setup does mean they bounce a bit on potholes. I drive a TDi van version of that shape. I can tell from here you're insanely jealous :-)
