Um. Not really. The interior of the airbox will always be at a lower temperature than the exterior, so you are simply limiting heat flow into the box.

The temperature of the airbox will stabilise at a point where the heat flow into the box equals the cooling effect of the air passing through. If you insulate the box, then (assuming the same air-flow through the box) the temperature rise of the air flowing through the box is correspondingly reduced.

Basically, if your insulation reduces the heat flow into the box by a factor X, then you will reduce the change in the intake temperature passing through the box by the same factor.

That was a very complicated way of saying:

The insulation stops the incoming air getting heated up.

Doesn't the Ka have a front grill you can just rip out and mesh over?

Drill a few fairly aesthetically pleaseing holes in the front bumper and use air ducting to put the forced air flow where you want it, or use your louver idea and reverse them so they turn into air scoops rather than vents.

I don't want air going into the underbonnet area, I want hot air leaving.

There wouldn't be much to gain anyway since the KA front grill looks like a mesh anyway.

Use a combination of small bonnet vents and ducting from the bumper. By createing a higher air pressure under the bonnet via ducting it should maximise any vents you have implemented.
