I have a 2001 E350 which has a ventilation problem. It used to work fine, but now no air comes out of the adjustable vents in the dash, regardless of the position of the ventilation control. The fan works fine... Where should I look first for fixing this?

First thing to check is the hose or pipe that connects the fan output to the vents themselves. Often one end will work loose and the air moved by the fan never reaches the vents.

Air comes out of the defroster and the vents that point at the driver and passenger window. The temperature control does vary the temperature from cold to hot. The main control that diverts the air doesn't make much difference other than turning on or off the entire system. I used to get a strong air currents from the dash vents...

I'm no expert, so you know how to handle my response. I have a 2000 F350 4x4 with automatic locking hubs. When I switched into 4wd my Air vents switched and nothing came out of the dash vents. This was due to the vaccuum hoses going to the front hubs being split causing loss of vaccuum when switched to 4wd. So where I'm coming from my suspicion is a vaccuum line somewhere or possibly the valve that controls the vaccuum to the vent mechanism.
