you win a big kahuna burger meal :) I was keeping to the posted limit in the roadwork's while most of the others were going past faster (I don't think 70% of the driving population understand average speed cameras) when I passed the NSL sign I put the foot down a bit too much and from 40 to

90 it was the blink of an eye the Beemer went past and was accelerating as she went and I'm sure I could have gone the whole way to the 140 mph mark I've been to in the past (frighteningly quickly too on the way to my destination, well, 2 car loads of chavs ogling out the side and rear windows had to be shown didn't they :) ) so it's not as if I can't hold it's own

still, 3 hours behind the wheel after sitting around without a "performance car" for a while does tend to make you drive a little more gingerly :)

she was more intresting in getting into the BMW lane than actually getting up to the correct speed ;)

there was a WORLD of difference lots more torque and, on a good day, at least another 15 horses from the 2.9

not gutless, and not slow, especially if you are talking about the deceptivly fast granada with the auto box which you can hustle along quite nicely if you are prepared to have a chassis which can't really cope :)

very rare cars them only let down by the fact that they use 15 inch alloys rather than the 16's on the hatch and saloon grannys

ultra responsive too :)

"I only use the BMW lane" actually :)

the problem with bmw's is that they are generally driven by people who think they are about 3 levels in life higher than they actually are therefore they are viewed with contempt by everyone else at least with a merc you may be seen as "sensible". a beemer driver is going to be more likely to be driving a bottom of the range car/engine and pretending it's actually an M3

did 140 on the way up, so it's not as if I wasn't in a quick machine ;) the bmw driver was more interested in why the car in front wasn't moving out of it's way while in the outside lane in the meantime, while it was waiting for the car to pull over I'd already got to 90 and had slowed down to 70 :) M1 was 3 lanes southbound with 2 lanes in the countraflow bit the bmw just happened to be sitting behind me for 2.5 miles while I was doing 40 (which I was doing like a good citizen in the 40 mph posted zone) when she wanted to be doing more

some people just look at this sorts of incidents as "wasn't trying" or "wasn't bothered" or whatever, when in reality, the f****it in the bmw was left behind by someone who was, possibly, being irritated at being tailgated on the motorway through the roadwork's and rather than speed up, slowed down even more :)

wish i had my speed gun ready for you!

my MR2 turbo would waste that useless ford junk :)

whoops guess what i've got in reserve for when i get my licence back hehe, anyone know where i can get an M3 kit alloys and badge for me 328? :)

the majority of the drivers are ok, it's the "tarred with the same brush" rest of us who just assume that they are all pricks well, at least 50% of the bmw's I seen on a daily basis are trying to get someone faster than anyone else so that's where I'm coming from :)

"if it's had been me" eh? don't worry, I'm sure your mr2 would have been quicker, we'll just never know for sure shall we :D

225bhp 0-60mph 5.8secs be close to be honest, MR2 looks cooler though than a tacky ford :-P

High insurance, poor fuel economy, and it's quite possible that example is simply not worth buying.

Where these aren't a factor they become bargains, IME, but then there are quite a few other cars in this sort of position too.

The usual driving force for sustaining old car prices, the new driver with little money, can't insure or fuel these sorts of car so they have no real market.

I'm sure they couldnt have extracted a huge amount more, at the end of the day it was the same old engine. I want another XR4x4 one day, so I'll try and make it a 2.9i to give it a try :)

But talking of these engines, at Santa Pod I saw a old granada hearse, with the Cosworth V6 in it. Very cool. Thought I took a photo of it, but doesnt look like I have.

Only a Knob does that, what you want are 316 badges and a set of steels with decent tyres.
