Car/route suggestion

You can buy one in good nick for that at the moment. Actually, you may have missed the best time as people unload them at the end of the summer. They fester in garages at the moment and will prolly come up for sale again as the days get longer in feb/march.

I guess There isn't a whole lot of luggage space, it's better if you forego the spare (or carry it on the boot rack). I've no idea how big a

60l rucksack is.

I got my mate's girlfriend in the boot of mine, she's about 5'6.

I saw someone who fitted motorbike top boxes to his boot rack so he could detatch them in no time and carry them into the hotel.

Really? Thought Peugeots owners were thin on the ground these days. Certainly not one on my drive. Perhaps you should get your facts straight before posting.

I didn't notice how important seats are until I got my first Jaguar. Then I took a drive that normally left me feeling like I had driven a long way - South Coast to Newcastle on Tyne in the Jag, got out and realised that I didn't feel in the slightest bit stressed or tired.

Later I drove it across Europe and did over a thousand miles in a day. And once more I got out feeling more or less as if I had gone around the corner to the shops. Same with the Exploder. Giant comfy armchairs soak up the miles.

Some may kid themselves that a buzzbox is suitable for high miles, but then again some speak all muffled when they sit down.

Just because you have creaky old bones that can't hack "buzzboxes" (whatever the hell that means) dont assume that others can't. TBH I'm not quite sure what you don't understand, I've done around 800 miles in a day in a 205 and felt fine, not to mention rallies, holidays, road trips etc in small cars and never had a problem. If you do, fine, but please dont tell me that I'm kidding myself when you really dont have a clue what you're talking about.

I used to have a 205 GTi when they were new. It was ummm vastly over-rated and uncomfortable.

Don't tell me etc, blah, talking crap, etc. Peddle.

Good for you, not sure how that's particularly relevant.

And you bought a GTi expecting it to be comfortable?

Because you have claimed that I don't know what I'm talking about, and you're wrong.

No, and there's no way that anyone (sane) could draw that conclusion from what I said. I'm merely highlighting the fact that you're talking crap.

My experience is that it's not necessarily the size of the car which determines the discomfort; my knackered old diesel 205 is a vastly more comfortable place to sit for 10 hours than is my relatively new passat, or was my girlfriend's mkV golf. I drove a 1993 mini cooper to and from Pisa in a day (each way) and had no issues with comfort, but found a W124 to be like sitting in a church pew. In other words, it seems to be pretty subjective.

Did you spot your mate coming down the street and had to hide her somewhere.

No, but we were in the car park of an old folks' home.

Yep. : ) Though I have never been brand driven. I judge everything on it's merits.
