I think that's actually less understandable than the Kanji.

Beautifully fitted, except for the bizarre bowden cable power-button-jabber. Couldn't s/he have just wired a discreet little microswitch?
I think it's because it's not physically a push on / off switch, as I recall it's some sort of touch sensitive pad.
It's not that neat, really - to have it really neat, it needs to be flush with the dash.
I think it's a deliberate attempt to look all retro and Engrish - it's mimicking an old fashioned choke cable, don't you think ?

My Triumph Acclaim has one :-) And my motorbike has one and that's an 05 plate! Although the MOT has run out (several months ago) and I suspect it's done less than 50 miles since the last MOT...
i just flogged a mini coz i couldn't find a use for it, damn....
