Mk2 Golf broken gear linkage........

...........or something altogether more wallet-lightening?



Car: VW Golf 1.6 Driver 89 (G)



Symptoms: last week wouldn't find 5th. Today, cant select anything except



3rd and 4th - gear lever feels very loose.

Any ideas?

Have you checked the white plastic clip bits on the linkage near where it connects to the gearbox. One of them wasn't closed properly on mine and prevented some gears being selected.
