What sort of performance are you wishing you had? If it's rip your face off acceleration then forget it. I'd have thought the best solution is to get the ride height lowered and suspension properly uprated. Braided brake lines and a decent set of aftermarket discs and pads will make the most difference relatively cheaply. Just don't paint the calipers red.

Not really. If performance is an issue, then perhaps you shouldn't have bought a 90bhp car :)

If you really want to stick with it, then spend the £500, and get it chipped. Get some sort of front mounted intercooler fitted - shouldn't be hard to do yourself, with some eBay bits. Rip out ALL the interior. Stick some bigger brakes on.

More Power + Less Weight = Greater Performance.

But it's not really viable - the end result won't be anywhere near as quick as a bog standard ST170. Prolly won't be as quick as the stock 130bhp 2.0 either...

You'd be best off part-exchanging it against something else. If you want Diesel economy, then go for anything with the 1.9 Volkswagon PD lump (130bhp/150bhp) or Peugeot HDi - either will chip easily for a handy power hike.
