also interesting, this source reckons they have 250hp...
and more, but cool :)
What's New for 2005 A new option this year is the Kicker/SRT Livin' Loud audio system that included a six-disc CD changer, two one-inch Neodymium tweeters, two 75-watt
5.5-inch full-range speakers, two 90-watt 6x9 coaxials and a 10-inch 100-watt SVC amplified subwoofer.begin 666 arrow_blue_4x17.gif M1TE&.#EA! `1`( !````_____R'Y! $```$`+ `````$`!$```(-C(^9
Probably driven by a 20w amp.
Don't buy a neon. Ever.
why? its fast as FUCK, and has lots of potential for much more, its brand new AND cheap as f*ck.
It will break down, fall apart, and suck at UK speeds
Neon has established itself as a largely trouble-free vehicle - no doubt the three-year/60,000-mile warranty has helped. Some niggles from loose trim and electrics, cheap servicing and parts...... and Chryslers have a reputation for being mechanically rugged.
so you talk s**te, true the interiors are a little cheap but mechanicaly very sound...
Yeah alright I can admit that running one for two years and 60k miles means I know sod all about them. I never talk s**te.
They suck fuel. They are noisy at motorway speeds. The door seals are crap. Parts are expensive. Rear visibility abysmal. Build is atrocious. On ours the gearbox self destructed at about 40k. Exhaust went in just over a year. Oh and completely insecure - went through a alot of radios.
Warranty does not mean quality.
Neon?
Bwhahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaahaha....
Go for a Daewoo they have more credibility.
If you are buying stateside, have a look at the Mustang, available for just a few K dollars more and an infinitely better car than the Neon.
Anyone who buys Chrysler deserves what they get, evil handling, crap engines, ugly shitboxes that all apart.
figures speak for themselves, faster than a focus RS, with more tuning scope, I have seen these things outdrag vipers...
Why would you want to tune it though? Its FWD and already has far too much power! A Focus RS can cope with that power because of its funny diff, a BMW Mini can cope with it cos of a decent chassis. Has a neon got either of these? Probably not.
Must have been an asshole in the viper. Oh, it'll have been an american, so close...
fwd can handle 350hp.... o fuckit dont know why i bother...
just drift off back to sleep as normal i shall...
Oh yes, of course you have:
Vipers clock up the standing quarter 12.2s with a terminal velocity of
119.2 in standard form. Moderately warmed over Vipers do it in 10.71 and 137.6 mph.The SRT-4 does the standing quarter in 14.2s 99.5 mph and because it's FWD, boosting the power isn't going to mean a reduction in that time.
Quaife say that the ATB diff can handle much more, 800bhp I think (unrelaible memory at work here). However that's irrelevant, yes you can make the engine more pwoerful but ultimately, what the f*ck for? Because with FWD you will just sit there lighting up the front tyres, not going anywhere.
Tim's right, the only time you have seen a Neon outdragging a Viper it was the fault of the Viper driver, not the car.
11.9 can be done, in a maestro. However the maestro is so much more advanced than that piece of yank crap the neon that I don't think it will get near that time.
60 in 5.3 seconds? Erm.....that seems a little, whats the word, unlikely.....
Also, its a Neon, and they are well known for being unreliable, not reliable :) And, lets not forget, its a Neon.....
In news: snipped-for-privacy@uni-berlin.de, DanTXD decided to enlighten our sheltered souls with a rant as follows
Despite all this Neon bashing, I actually quite like 'em.
ok, they're not the best built car in the world (I drive one of those), and bits of 'em are cheap, well, lots of 'em are cheap, but they were designed for Yank students so you can't expect miracles. I like the look of 'em, they're quite well equipped for the price, and the SRT-4 thing looks like a cheap way of going rather quickly.
If it's less than £15k new over here, I can't think of many new cars for the money that are likely to be as quick without revving the bollocks off 'em. I imagine the Neon would be nice and grunty, so more suited to me than a Civic Type R or Clio 182.
I hadn't read the sub-£15k bit, that is very, very impressive. Plus, being a turbo and all, should be nicely tunable :)
