off topic - Derren Brown last night

I wonder if the guy who could resist the programming got to keep the money. It was real money in the box afterall.

I suppose it would have been nice, as a 'well done you defeted the amazing god like Derren' if nothing else...

Saw it. Can't remember if I worked it out or not.

Pick out a bunch of suggestible people from all the people who apply to be on a Derren Brown programme. Not that hard. For a start, you'll have 2 types of people applying - people who want to debunk it, and people who think it's amazing. Get rid of the people who want to debunk it, then further narrow down your selection once the programme's started.

He worked out the chamber using his normal methods but the bullet was reportedly a trick, presumably a blank with a hollow cap instead of a bullet. This would still require a trick gun otherwise the cap and gasses would be blown into his head, which is very bad. I don't remember the programme but if you saw the gun when the "live" round was fired into the bag it should be easy to see whether the gases were ejected from the barrel. Then again, there could be an external hidden lever which Derren pressed to remove the block for the live firing.
