Polished the car over the weekend.

When I bought it, he handed me about half a bottle of Turtlewax colour magic, with the wonderful line "you don't have any excuse to not do it".I do, it is shite.I washed it last week after a week of owning, and as most of the turtle wax had washed off, horizontal surfaces like the roof, bonnet, rear spoiler where almost pink and patchy in places. After another week of driving they were rough as sandpaper with all the grit it had held and looking so dirty I had to wash it again.So, I pulled out my trusty Autoglym resin polishm, and autoglym top coat.Took 3 aplications of resin polish to get it back to red, although there are still one or two small patches on the roof that need work, but at least it has a pretty much even shine with the top gloss finish.What is it with some people who have no idea about the difference between a crap wax, and a polish. Who then go on to slap gallons of wax onto the car each time they wash it, until it is about 1/2thick and so dull, and because they can't get a shine, slap on some more wax?Need to get some more top coat/sealer/wax soon as my autoglym is running low. I'm goign to keep using the resin polish as it is fantastic, but any recommends on a good top coat, as the Autoglym is a very runny liquid, and can easily be wasted on vertical panels. A paste or wax (not T-Wax colour magic please) would be better.

LOL. That was what I liked about the Saab. It was Silver, so it just went grey as it dirtied, unless it was oily finger prints.

I used to wash that once a month, and you could see how dirty it was only when it rained and left streaks.

No, I used the cloth, but you are supposed to apply it to the panel, not the cloth.

Thatw as why I was considering standard paste type wax/gloss.

Front runner are so far, Mer and Meguiares.

Or they do one supposedly for Japanese cars - £42.

IIRC The expensive one is a life times supply so if you get a 1921 Bentley for your 17th birthday then polish it every weekend for the rest of your life it's a barging.

Yeah, pretty much. It does rain over here. Occasionally. Very occasionally. New car is white and it is holding up to my abuse fairly well. It was due a respray when I bought it so I guess I will be anal about washing it once I have it done.
