Re: What car do I buy next ?

How does 4WD, 8 cylinders, 300bhp out the box and proper luxury sound?

For £6k you could just about get an A8 4.2 quattro. Granted, it'll be a bit older than you'd like, and probably higher running costs, but what a car...!

Well one major difference between the Fiat and the Nissan is which end is driven. For me that is a big difference and if you're going towards 300BHP there's really only one answer IMHO.

That is a "Grainger". See a whole pile of boost control links here, for future reference....

It's a shame a $9 item turns into £25 in the UK:-((

Don't know about the 300ZX, but I know standard discs for a Skyline are £1k a set. Don't know about uprated ones.

Oh and the R32 ones Explode when they are abused, so worth changing before they get too knackered.

It's 33% of my new-car budget :)

Nah, that's the from-a-Nissan-dealer price. BlackDiamond/EBC/Brembo/Tarox etc. will all offer their wares for £200 or so.

Some enterprising mechanics have worked out how to do it cheaply, in situe.

Not to mention that the performance figures are slower than the Ti... :/

omg, that is so crap. *No* modern mass-production car should function like that. Sure it's not a knackered sensor somewhere along the line ?

More down to the extra lard that the S14 accumalated over the previous generation.

No surprise, even an ST170 is very disappointing as well in that respect.

Crap it may be but I've heard it's a Nissan trait. Given that I've had the same experience from both my S13 and S14 I don't think it's down to anything being knackered, other than the design. Still, it's not exactly life threatening and it's easy to avoid so no big deal really. Also, what is modern? I don't know how long the SR20DET engine has been going altogether but I guess as far as the 200SX is concerned it's at least 8 years old, as a design.

One man's lard is another man's ABS, Air Con, CD Changer, Airbags, Leather, wider tyres and no doubt a few other improvements in comfort or safety. And I've put on a few pounds too;-) I reallyt don't think you can ignore the effect of gearing. The new car gives me between 30-40mpg. The old one gave me between about 23-30mpg. No real difference in driving style so you'd think all that extra weight and horsepower would increase fuel consumption. But that's not the case.

Yep, but it made me feel a bit happier about the 200SX to know how much better it was than a basic cooking model. Still poor compared to a WRX though:-(

It's still not too bad though - at 1390Kg it's only a smidgeon heavier than the TI - the extra 25Nm of torque should take care of it :)

With an 80bhp defecit, so it should be ! Get yours tweaked :)

Yet the 0-60 dash is slower again, must be that gearing then (as he pointed out). Another 100BHP will sort it out a bit better :)

Yes - that's what I'll do with mine, if I get one.

IIRC it's a Porsche system, as used in the Carrera 4, but mounted backwards.

I thought only Americans couldn't spot irony. Oh hang on, your not German are you?

What so they have 65% torque at the front and 35% at the rear to match the poor weight distribution?
