Servicing Costs

Took the Zafira in for servicing this morning. I just got a call from them saying that since the car is two years old there are a couple of 'advisory changes', namely the brake fluid and the coolant.

£25 for the brake fluid, £35 for the coolant!!!

F*ck that, I'll be doing it myself I think...

Sounds pretty reasonable to me at this time of year though. Saves you crawling around in the cold and damp getting smelly corrosive fluids all over the place.

Sounds very reasonable if it includes the fluids....

I.

I'd check up on the price of the recommended coolant first. And changing brake fluid is a fiddle without the correct equipment. Doesn't sound a bad price to me unless you have plenty time on your hands.

One assumes as it's their quoted price it includes the fluids - and saves you the hassle of crawling round on the cold floor. I'd say that was very reasonable.

Assuming they change them of course.........

Here, your tinfoil hat fell off. Also, I think M15 is watching you...

Mate of mine worked for a main Volvo dealers, and another a Suzuki dealership, both of them told me it was common practice if short on time not to bother with some fluid changes.

My old man recently booked his car in at a Vauxhall main agent, for a cam belt change (why I don't know) they did the belt and told him he needs new shoes at the back, that will be a couple of hundred quid, he says no thanks, gets the car back the wheel trims and cobwebs behind them had not been removed, needless to say the shoes had plenty of meat on them.

Donkeys years ago I had a Sierra as a company car, service without fail it had a new clutch, till the warranty ran out at 60k, I looked at the bell housing bolts they had never been off.

Now where did I leave my tin foil hat ?

Lol, it started to rain earlier so made a quick call to the garage: 'any chance you can do those two advisories'...

For the hassle on a Zafira it's worth paying - I've tried working on mine and it's a pain to get access.

Yeah, the weather made me bottle it...
