I never said the Passat was a 'performance' car, it's a nice discrete way to travel around at relatively rapid speeds. It's also bigger than a Rover, much better built than a Rover, and will go further without breaking down than a Rover.
Remember, I'm doing 25k miles / year, and am fairly heavy handed with my right foot. I doubt a 620TI would cope with that abuse without complaining.
i'd like a passat around '98 sorta age before the uglied it up with s*it rear lights and a HUGE grille yuck!

Strange that, I used to rack up around 25k miles a year in a 20 year old Granada 2.8 injection that cost me the grand total of £350.
In the two and a bit years I had it I knocked the mileage from 80k to 135k and all it ever needed was a steering rack - £80 for a recon.
Used to love that car, I did.
