I sort of bought a new car instead. I didn't intend to, it was an accident (if you can accidentally spend £4k). That was the transplant money, so I'll just have to rebuild the stock engine (probably with a cam and flowed head along with anything else I can afford).
No prizes for guessing what car I got.

No it's only got 75bhp the same as my MK4 (well when it was running). The transplant isn't right out just out for now.

Is the gamma any good? As it has the Tape/CD double DIN unit thing.

0-60 in 8.5 secs and somewhere around 140mph top end.The steels all add to the effect in pissing off the chavs, and I really don't give a toss about 'only' getting 30mpg.
At least it's not a diesel.
I only have the radio/cassette bit of it, and it's very good. The CD player isn't integrated on a Gamma, it's a separate single-din unit.
However, I use an iPod with it, so don't need CD.
That's the one, was thinking of whipping it out as the local Halfrauds have an ex demo DVD sat nav system that used 2 DINS in the reduced section but if the sound from the stock unit is acceptable then I'll stick with that for now rather than spend another grand that could be put towards getting the Mk4 back on the road before show season kicks off properly. (That said I may get the KG project back this month so can show that instead)
Gamma is the best OEM audio kit I've heard, I'm sure Bose stuff is better, but it's more than adequate.
I've got used to the Nakamichi stuff in my G40 and my fathers Mini, I've got a long drive back with it over the weekend to make my mind up so will have to pack plenty CDs.

I reckon it's a Polo SDI. There's no way a 1.4 8v petrol will to that kind of mpg.
If it is an SDI they're the dullest car of all time, ever.
my dad had a 1.8T passat, was the sport though so came with tiny 6 spoked alloys but it did have a sporty steering wheel and a nice short shift gear lever, i loved it was pretty fast that motor :)
