Rob... why do you post this sort of stuff, given you don't like having the piss ripped out of you?

That's not a dig, btw.

I mean, wtf did 21 hours worth of labour get used on, if it did this 9 miles later?

I'm trying to work out how someone who's supposedly quite handy with a spanner managed to kill an engine by not noticing something wrong with the oil pressure.

Those 8v lumps aren't known for fecking up in this respect, either, whatever size they are.

In news: snipped-for-privacy@individual.net, JackH decided to enlighten our sheltered souls with a rant as follows

He probably had the oil pressure bulb blacked out on it. Adds 40 bhp.

21 hours of labour goes a long way on a cavvy :)

first up was

front wishbones/bottom arms trackrod ends one front bearing pendulum bushes couple of cv boots set of uprated brakes and calipers back brakes wheel bearings (rear both sides) oh and a new exhaust had to be made timing belt and a quick service oh yeah and a quick skim of filler over the top of the windscreen

just to give you all an update pulled the engine out last night(out the top) and its completely shot (read the sumps full of little bits of oil pump)

be back up and running tommorow tho :)
